Festivals and Events
The school year is enriched by celebrating seasonal festivals. The rhythm, beauty and simple ritual of these festivals allows the children to feel connected to the natural world and helps them to embrace it as something that supports and sustains them.
At Cairns Hinterland Steiner School, Easter and the Harvest Festival are hosted interchangeably at the end of Term One. The Festival of Lights is held at the midwinter solstice in Term Two, and is a reverent and beautiful evening. Term Three sees the annual Spring Fair, where the children’s work is on display and the public are invited to join the school community in all things Steiner. Also in Term Three is the Michaelmas festival, a celebration of courage. The end of Term Four closes the year with the Advent Festival, where traditional carols and verses are sung together.
The Spring Fair is a community event and anyone is welcome to attend.
